I remained calm when someone I counted on for help was a No-Show
Instead of getting upset, I transformed my disappointment into a positive experience.
Last weekend took an unexpected turn when the hired hand who had agreed to stop by my house to do some much needed yard work didn't show up as promised.
I took advantage of the potentially stressful situation to take a book out of my personal library and read it from cover-to-cover.
Reading is a favorite pastime of mine, and I kept and transported three bookcases to my new home which are filled with dozens of paperback and hardcover volumes.
One such book was a copy of a New York Times bestseller published in 1994 entitled "Embraced By The Light" that was authored by Betty J. Eadle. This slim 147-page paperback chronicled the author's recovery from her near death experience (NDE) that took place in 1973.
Embraced By The Light was one of the books that I found at my family home in southern California that I felt was worthy for me to keep. While I had been previously introduced to the subject of NDEs, I wasn't intimately familiar with Betty Eadie and her personal story.
After I finished reading Ms. Eadie's book, I researched and listened to several podcasts (such as the following)_ where the author was the featured guest:

PS. I contacted the hired hand's supervisor who took it upon himself to trim the trees and remove the weeds from the front and back yards.
